#### Filter images by reference

The `reference` filter shows only images whose reference matches
the specified pattern.
The `reference` filter matches against each image's **reference string**:
the repository name and tag joined as `REPOSITORY:TAG` (for example
`busybox:latest`, or `registry.example.com:5000/team/app:1.2` when a
registry host and port are part of the repository path). It is not a
separate field from repository/tag — those two columns in the default
table are what form the reference.

The pattern uses path-style glob matching (`*`, `?`, and character
classes). Matching is against the whole reference, so a pattern like
`*acme*` must appear as a contiguous substring of `REPOSITORY:TAG`. A
registry hostname such as `docker-registry.ec2-1.acme.com:5000/...`
includes the host and port in the repository portion; use a pattern
that covers that prefix (for example
`*acme.com:5000/*` or `docker-registry.ec2-1.acme.com:5000/*`) rather
than expecting `*acme*` alone to match only the `acme` path segment.
